Eligibility

Who can apply

Open to Ugandan and international students who have completed A-Level (UACE) or hold a recognised Diploma. Mature Age Entry is available for candidates aged 25+ with at least 5 years of relevant work experience who pass the VU Mature Age Examination.

Requirements

Entry requirements

  • Bachelor's (Direct): UACE with at least 2 Principal Passes + UCE with 5 Credits including English
  • Diploma Holders: A recognised Diploma (Credit/Pass) in a relevant field for direct entry to Year 2 (subject to exemption)
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB): UACE with 2 Principals (one in Arts) + UCE with 5 Credits including English & Maths
  • Health Sciences (Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health): UACE Biology + Chemistry (Principal Passes) and credit in English & Maths at UCE
  • Mature Age Entry: 25+ years, pass VU Mature Age Examination (Aptitude + Essay)
  • Diploma Programmes: UACE with 1 Principal Pass + 2 Subsidiary, OR UCE with 5 Credits + relevant Certificate

  • National ID or Passport bio-data page
  • Two recent passport-size photographs
  • Birth certificate
  • Recommendation letter (mature age & inservice applicants)

International applicants

International students submit equivalency from the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) or the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). VU assists with student-visa invitation letters once admission is confirmed.
