Student visa guide

The Uganda student pass in four steps. Most VU international students complete the process in 3-4 weeks from admission.

  1. 1. Get your admission letter

Apply to Victoria University and receive your official admission letter (Class D signed by the Registrar). You cannot start a visa without it.

  2. 2. Prepare your documents

Valid passport (6+ months), 2 passport photos, admission letter, birth certificate, medical form, police clearance from your home country, and evidence of financial support.

  3. 3. Apply for the student pass online

Submit at visas.immigration.go.ug, pick 'Student Pass'. Fees are USD 100 per year for East African Community students, USD 250 for other nationals.

  4. 4. Report to the International Office on arrival

Within 7 days of arriving in Kampala, bring the printed pass and admission letter to the VU International Office to register your residency address.
